Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell, I-89 ride

October 2, 2008– Today we took a look at the Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell and then rode out on I-89 in Utah and came back on scenic Alt I-89 in Arizona.
You might notice that we have more haze today. Part of it is because it is cloudy and rain may come this weekend (which makes everyone here happy). But the other reason is most likely because there is a power plant sitting right outside of Page, Az. This is a bit confusing because our assumption was that the Glen Canyon Dam should be producing electricity, but it looks to us that very little water is flowing through it and instead a coal is being used to make electricity.

Glen Canyon Dam -- We were surprised at how low the water level is -- and how little is coming through the dam
We are staying in Page, Arizona again tonight. We might stay another day or two — if we can get a room here tomorrow night. Carl’s knee is giving him trouble and we need to take it easy.
